Last week, the UFC was getting ready for their Bantamweight title fight between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao. Unfortunately, Barao was unable to compete in his fight because when Barao was in the process of cutting weight, he slipped, hit his head, and was taken to the hospital. Dillashaw had to fight relatively unknown fighter in Joe Soto.
After the Barao controversy, UFC President Dana White told mmafighting.com's Ariel Helwani that Barao won't be paid a dime. So that means Renan Barao wont be paid his show and win money from the UFC.
Is this fair? Dana White sometimes does have a short fuse and overreacts to things. We saw this in the UFC Macau card where Dana White removed a judge and he had no authority doing so.
To me, I think Barao at least deserves to get his show money because he showed up in California, talked to the MMA media and was killing himself making the weight. Barao was even there for the UFC PPV giving UFC commentator Joe Rogan an exclusive interview right after the undercard fights.
What do you guys think, was it fair for the UFC not to pay Barao?
