We all know who the top free agents this year are LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, etc. Teams have been planning on how to try and persuade these superstars to join their team. Some teams try so desperately to get a superstar player and when the plan doesn't work their team suffers because of it. One superstar that I am targeting is Carmelo Anthony.
When Carmelo was with the Denver Nuggets, he knew that he didn't want to be with the Nuggets after his contract expired. What he did was he forced the Nuggets management to trade him to the team that he wanted to play for the most and that was the New York Knicks. Denver gave in to the pressure and got a good return for Carmelo. The Nuggets received 1 first round pick, 2 second round picks, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, and Timofey Mozgov. The Knicks basically blew up their roster so that they could get the superstar they wanted. So the question that I have today is, does Carmelo owe it to the Knicks to stay?
This question is very tricky because in the world or sports is a mean business and teams will get rid of you when you are playing bad. There is no loyalty in sports. Carmelo doesn't "owe" it to the Knicks because he doesn't "owe" it to anyone to do what he wants. I presented this question because Carmelo forced his way to New York and because there was mutual interest between the Knicks and Carmelo, this caused the Knicks to blow up their roster to get what they want. Carmelo has said he love it in New York and how much he loved the Knicks as a kid.
Now when we see the Knicks roster, obviously this upcoming season wont have high hopes but the season after that the Kicks will have a lot of money in free agency to attract other free agents. So if Carmelo wants to stay with the Knicks is he willing to have one bad year?
So tell me what you think does Carmelo owe it to the New York Knicks to stay?
