The Dallas Cowboys have already been in the news 1 day into their minicamp with the injury to their middle linebacker Sean Lee. Sean Lee is the quarterback of the defense and with him tearing his ACL the defense might be in more trouble.
Something else the Cowboys need to think about is whether or not to sign Dez Bryant to an extension before the season or let him play it out. Dez Bryant is without the best receiver the Cowboys have and you can make the argument that Dez Bryant is the 2nd best wide receiver in the NFL behind Calvin Johnson.
The argument against giving Dez Bryant a contract extension before the season is what happens when he has a lot of money. Also people seem to worry about Dez's off the field issues. Dez hasn't got in a lot of trouble beside that one incident involving his mother.
The Cowboys should not worry about Dez because for one the Cowboys gave Dez a number of rules that he needs to follow such as 1) A midnight curfew. If he's going to miss curfew, team officials must know in advance, 2) No drinking alcohol, 3) He must attend counseling sessions twice a week, just to name a few.
There has been speculation whether or not these rules are still in place but even if they aren't Dez isn't causing any trouble. Late last year, Dez Bryant bought everyone a PS4 who was standing in line waiting for one.
If we look at just the talent, there is no doubt that he deserves to get a contract extension. If we look at Dez Bryant the person, he should still get a contract extension before the season starts. When we watch Dez Bryant from our TV's it looks like he is going after his teammates but in reality he is showing his passion and trying to get his teammates fired up.
What do you think Should the Cowboys give Dez Bryant a contract extension before the season starts?
