When NFL experts talk about great quarterbacks we hear the usual names in Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees. After we talk about the star quarterbacks we talk about Jay Cutler, Joe Flacco, Tony Romo, surprisingly Eli Manning, etc.. How come Philip River's name doesn't come up? There are a couples reasons why Philip Rivers name doesn't come up and here they are.
His team doesn't make it to the playoffs often. Michael Wilbon from ESPN's Pardon The Interruption, when talking about the Chargers always calls them the sleeping Chargers because they are always on such a slow start and tries to pick up the pace at the end of the year.
Philip Rivers hasn't had that eye popping year where we just said wow he had a great season. The poster child for having great years number wise is Matthew Stafford (who is completely overrated by the way).
Philip Rivers has not had a go to receiver since he has been with San Diego. In his career he was with Ladainian Tomlinson, and is still with Antonio Gates but he hasn't had that #1 go to receiver that people like.
Those are a couple reasons why Philip Rivers might not be on peoples top quarterback list. I think they are wrong because Rivers should be a top 10 quarterback, he has the swagger and the talent to carry his team to the playoffs.
